Responding to a Triaged Episode: Practice

When a referral is triaged by Secondary Care, the Triager Clinical form allows them to select the following options:

Below outlines each of these options and how they should be actioned when returned back to referring practice.

Accept for booking at this hospital: Referral has been accepted by the Trust and sent to booking team.  No further action needed from Practice. This will show as Completed on OPERAi.

Request further information from Optical Practice: A Trust (or Practice if an internal referral) has the option to send a referral back requesting further information. This could be extra imaging or more detailed information. When this request is sent back it will land in the 'Action Required' tab on your clinical dashboard, as per below:

Select View Episode and then the red Triage Action Required button.

This will open the WGOS Optical Practice Triage Admin Form. Continue through the form, confirming patient and GP details. On page 3 'Outcome Information' you will be given the following options:

Here you can add any additional information or required images before sending back to triage team. The main outcome option that will be needed here is 'Return referral to triage team'. Select next and this will be sent back for review.

Return to Optical Practice with Advice: A Trust (or Practice if an internal referral) has the option to send a referral back with advice.

This will open the WGOS Optical Practice Triage Admin Form. As per the image above, there are three options to select. If return advice is 'Monitor for 12 months', you would select 'Requested triager action completed outside of OPERAi'. To transfer to alternative provider please see Send to alternative provider unpublished

Escalate for Secondary Care: This allows a Secondary Care Triager to escualte internally for a second opinion. This is not available for Primary Care.
